We're 6 or 7 weeks along

We had our first doctor's appointment yesterday.  I was extremely nervous.  I do not do well in medical situations that have to do with me as the patient, especially when it comes to blood work.  We had to wait for a bit to actually see the doctor, and when she came in, she asked all the questions about how I am feeling, if I'm on any prescriptions, do I exercise, and my diet.  Well, feeling pretty good, some waves of nausea throughout the morning, still doing crossfit and still trying to follow paleo as much as possible, but have been settling for some Trader Joe's gluten free waffles with peanut butter and bananas as a go to breakfast the past few days.  Eggs I haven't been finding too appetizing.

The doctor then did a complete physical exam, vaginal culture and vaginal sonogram.  From the sonogram measurements she said baby is about 6 or 7 weeks along.  Which is about what I expected.

Eddie and I then got to ask all of our questions, about crossfit, coffee, deli meat, sushi, battling my anxiousness and what to expect over the next few weeks til our next appointment.  She suggested keep doing everything as if nothing has changed.  Sit ups are ok, crossfit for now, is still ok, coffee limit to 1 -2 per day (or any caffeinated beverage should be 1-2 cups per day total), sushi and deli meat are also ok in moderation, and deli- meat only from the grocery store.  The anxiousness, she recommended pinpointing what was making me so anxious and focusing on overcoming that fear, and said talking about it with friends and family should help too and yoga would be great to help with learning calming breathing techniques.

After our visit with the doctor we had to wait for me to get blood drawn.  My biggest fear!  I HATE needles, scared to death.  The phlembotomist was so sweet about the whole thing, it probably helped that Eddie talked to her and the doctor of how big my fear really was, which was so sweet of him.  I still cried like a baby, but I got it done, and I didn't pass out.  Success!!

How far along? 6 or 7 weeks along
Total weight gain/loss: I'm up 1 lb. (Could have been water weight since it was so late in the afternoon as well;)
Maternity clothes? No
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Slept very well last night after telling the grandparents to be and aunties and uncles to be.

Best moment this week: When I asked the Doctor if she saw more than one in there, and she said "Nope, just one, with a heartbeat in the uterus as it should be."  I was scared there might be twins in there.

Miss Anything? Not lately, my appetite has decreased throughout the day.  But the Doctor said I can still have sushi in moderation.  Praise Jesus!  We went out for sushi last night.  :)
Movement: No movement yet that I can tell, just some shooting pains here and there.
Food cravings: Fruit, all I want is fruit right now to help with the nausea, I've even sucked on some lemons.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Yes, the horrible aroma around my office building, we work across from the what I call Poop plant.  Also, the smell of our refrigerator at home makes me queasy even though I've cleaned it, I can't figure out what smell is bothering me in there.  Also Abbey and Buddy's breath.  Gross!

Have you started to show yet: No, just feeling bloated still.
Gender: No clues yet.  Eddie keeps referring to the baby as him, he, etc.  :)
Special things I'm focusing on:  Trying to stay active.  My goal is to still make crossfit 3 times per week.  I'd like to do yoga once a week to help relax me more.  I'm an anxious mess.

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy but I defintly still have a short fuse.  Sorry Eddie.  :(
Looking forward to: Not feeling nauseous

We also told our parents and siblings via skype/facetime. We wore our t-shirts proudly!  ha ha!

Everyone is excited and very happy for us.  It was such a relief to tell them.  Their reaction made it so much more real, and exciting.

My First Week of Pregnancy

I took the at home pregnancy test Friday morning, October 18th, 2013. I really was shocked to see that little word staring back at me... PREGNANT.
Its says, "Pregnant"
OMG!
I remember looking up into the mirror back at myself thinking, no, shaking my head back and forth..."I read that wrong." Only to look back down to see it again looking  back at me...PREGNANT.

Today is Thursday, October 24th, almost a whole week later, and I'm still having a hard time believing it and now all I have is this picture to keep looking at, cause keeping the pee stick is kind of gross, plus the battery died after like 12 hours.

How far along? Not sure yet, but from the Health & Parenting Pregnancy app, it says I'm 8 weeks.  I'm thinking more like 6 or 7.
Total weight gain/loss: So far, none on the scale, although my pants around my belly are uncomfortable, I just feel bloated all the time.
Maternity clothes? No
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Not great like normal, but not terrible... with the frequent trips to the bathroom and then realizing I'm pregnant again in my awaken state, it's been taking me longer to fall back asleep.

Best moment this week: Reading a text from Eddie that said, "Love ya baby Momma."
Miss Anything? I will state the obvious - wine. But I would like to add sushi. We go out for sushi normally once a week and I didn't have any this past week! Big frownie face here... :(

Movement: Nada, just feels like a lot of stretching in my belly going on and cramping, lots of cramping.
Food cravings: First one this week, a cheeseburger. HA, and it was so delicious.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not yet, so far no morning sickness.

Have you started to show yet: No, I guess not...Eddie says no, but I feel my belly protruding into my pants all day
Gender: No idea, but I have a feeling it's a boy....it's been too simple of a pregnancy so far...Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" keeps playing in my head.
Special things I'm focusing on:  My water intake.  Since Monday I've been drinking 40oz of water with a lemon wedge throughout the work day, then an additional 20oz during my workout, and more with dinner and before bed.  So probably an accumulated amount of close to 60-65oz per day.  No wonder I'm peeing so much.  But I read that the more water you drink the better off you will keep morning sickness, constipation and a whole laundry list of other horrible side effects at bay.  I've started Prenatal Vitamins and DHA in addition to my daily Fish Oil.   I've also increased my veggie intake either in morning green smoothies or salads for lunch with lots of spinach and kale.

Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy but anxious! I also have a short fuse. Sorry, Eddie! And I had a moment in the restroom the other day at work when I couldn't get the toilet paper roll to move and I was swearing at it.
Looking forward to: Our first Dr. appointment on October 29th to get the official word from a medical professional that says, "Yep, you're pregnant"...and to fill in all the details as much as possible. I'm also looking forward to telling our family. This has been extremely difficult news not to share.

OND

Hello, Friends.  Over the weekend I was busy doing homework for the class I'm taking, and I dismally admitted to myself that I hadn't done any of my workouts all week long.  FAIL.  So much for my Accountability Calendar!  I've been trying to get ahead in my school work so when I go to South Carolina this weekend to visit my friend Kristin, I could really just enjoy it and not have to think about school work.  Anyway...this whole calendar, keeping myself accountable for excercising, and eating right consistently is just a lot of work!  A LOT!  Especially this time of year when all I want to do is eat, watch movies, snuggle with my puppies and bury myself under warm, fuzzy blankets.

I work for a Wine and Spirits distribution company, and we have a "season" called O.N.D.  which stands for October, November, December.  OND, for my company is the busiest time of the year...mostly because of football, and all the holidays.  I giggle, because I changed the acronym OND to Obviously No Diets.    HA HA.  Well seriously, October, it starts to get cold, and apple crisp, pumpkins scones, pumpkin latte's, pumpkin muffins, pies, etc... fill my head with their goodness and then of course Thanksgiving comes sneakily out of nowhere, and then Christmas...  BAM CHRISTMAS!  I hate to break it to you, but Christmas is 10 weeks away!  So...my point is....working out and eating healthy is important to me, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it.  I'm going to enjoy life.  Be an epicure of the season's treats, hold close to the ones I love and be mindful of my choices.

HAPPY OND to you and 'Toasts ma goats!'

If it's important to you, you'll find a way

Morning, friends!  This week is flying by for me.  It's already Thursday!  I've been so busy at work and have had a ton of school work to catch up on this week, which hasn't left me much time to get my workouts in.  I did however over the weekend, get in a mile run which I shaved off 17 seconds from my last timed mile and did it in 10:14!  Progress people!  Progress!  In order to do this, I sped up the treadmill to about 7.5 every other quarter of a mile, then back down to 6.

Monday's workout I managed to complete in 6 minutes.  Here's an overview of it:

5 Rounds for time:
10x Mountain Climbers
10x Jumping Jacks
10x Tuck Jumps
10x Squats

The tuck jumps nearly killed me.  They seem so easy, but, they seriously get my heart rate up, quickly.  I also managed to complete an outdoor 2 mile run after that workout.  Well, it was more like a WOG.  (walk/jog).  My legs were on fire after that.  I''m hoping to get in Wednesday's missed workout at some point today.

A Quickie!

Today's WOD (workout of the day) was a quickie!! I aim for the easy, do anywhere, kind of workouts.

5 Rounds for time:
15 Walking Lunges with a weight in each hand
30 Tuck Jumps

This workout took me 8 minutes to complete, and I was a sweaty, exhausted mess at completion.  Another workout checked off my calendar!
